Rules Of Golf For The Teeing Ground (Rule 11)
Teeing Ground.
A ball must be put into play from within the area of the teeing ground and from the surface of the ground of the teeing ground or from a tee placed in or on the surface of the teeing green. A player may stand outside of the teeing ground to play his stroke, but his ball must be on the teeing ground.

If a ball falls off the tee, or is knocked off the tee accidentally, during the address and before it is in play, it may be replaced.
If, however, a stroke is made at a ball which has fallen off the tee, then this stroke will count.
Playing Outside The Teeing Ground.
In match play a player can place his ball into play by taking a stroke outside of the teeing ground without penalty. An opponent can however object and require the player to take the shot again from within the teeing ground.
In stroke play a player making a stroke outside of the teeing ground will incur a two stroke penalty and will be required to take his shot again from within the teeing ground.
Playing From The Wrong Teeing Ground.
The rules for playing outside the teeing ground apply equally to playing from the wrong teeing ground.
